Title/Lesson/Theme: The broad difference of African societies is readily ascertained by the broad and varied initiation and educational systems which define its diverse people.

Objectives:

TSWBA to compare and contrast a minimum of three societies regarding at least three categories relating to initiation/education practices of African Life.

TSWBA to chart the findings and interpret that information in preparation to write an essay.

Description/Background:

Every society has its prescribed system of teaching the youth in preparation for adulthood. The initiation/education process is a meaningful identity to and for that society. In this assignment, students will explore the wide sampling of initiation/education processes in unique African societies.

Step by Step Procedure:

Assignment in CD (essays, chapters): Chapter -Initiation/Education, Sections and resources dependent upon aspects selected.

Evaluation/Assessment tool (how will objectives be assessed?):

Having the information and interpretations, have students (individual or in pairs) write an essay which answers the problem posed at the beginning of the lesson.
