Background:
My research interests primarily focus on Asia (specifically Southeast Asia) and are multi-faceted and diverse in their scope. My most recent research involves characterizing the initial migrations of early Homo into this region about 1.6 mya. These investigations of the evolution of Homo erectus are cross-disciplinary, encompassing the study and discovery of human fossil remains, as well as use of paleoecological and geochronologic methods, all in the Sangiran Dome, Java. Recent field projects have also included the taphonomy of the Zhoukoudian "Peking Man" site. In addition to the study of our own genus, I also continue to research non-human primate evolution in Asia, especially of the Eocene primates of Myanmar, Miocene hominoids of India and China, the evolution and adaptations of Gigantopithecus, and Plio-Pleistocene cercopithecoids.
