Alissa Whitmore

Background:

I am a first-year graduate student in Anthropology, with my main focus
on Archaeology. I did my undergraduate work at the University of
Iowa, majoring in Anthropology and the Classics. I spent a month this
summer doing salvage archaeology at several sites in Nijmegen, the
Netherlands, one of which was the site of a possible Roman town. My
specialization is in Classical Archaeology and my main interests
include gender in Ancient Greek and Roman societies, death-ritual and
disposal of the dead in Ancient Greek and Roman societies, and Roman
villas.
