What is Best Buddies Colleges?
Best Buddies Colleges pairs college students in one-to-one friendships with individuals in the community that have the developmental disability of mental retardation (together they are called Buddy Pairs). In the past, individuals with developmental disabilities may have not had as many opportunities to find friends outside of their families or staff that is paid to work with them. By becoming a College Buddy, individuals with mental retardation have the chance to meet new friends and feel included in their communities. By introducing Best Buddies into colleges, we are hoping to cross the invisible line that too often separates those with disabilities from those without.
What is required of Buddy Pairs?

The most I can do for my friend is simply to be his friend.
