Expanded Software Development Proposal (about 1000 words)
Deadline: Friday, October 12th, 2007, by noon
The purpose of the expanded proposal is to describe in
concrete terms the multimedia module you will be developing. The audience for
this version is your fellow class members and, eventually, the colleagues who
will attend the December 4th poster session. Please use the following outline
(including these headings):
- Abstract: General description of the module. (50 words)
- Instructional
Goals: What general area(s) of language
or culture will be addressed by your "module"? What skills will
be addressed?
- Language
and Level: What is the target language
of your module and what assumptions will you make about the level of the
learners/users?
- Context: What is the instructional context (course, textbook,
syllabus)? What is the specific curricular setting within which learners
will be assigned to use this module?
- Interaction
Sequences: Describe in detail the types
and sequence of activities the learner will engage in and the web pages
or other texts to be used. Provide a rationale for your choices.
In addition to this narrative, please chart your activity plan using the Activity Chart, which can be downloaded from the Activity Chart link on the course homepage: www.uiowa.edu/~c16421. Please attach your chart document along with your Expanded Proposal document when you send it to your instructors. If you wish, you may embed the chart into your Expanded Proposal document as a separate section. Please refer to the sample activity chart (available by clicking on the Example Chart link) to understand the chart headings.

Multimedia References: List at least
three articles or book chapters that will guide your courseware
design/development effort and comment briefly about their relevance. (Your
final project report at the end of the semester will contain a detailed
assessment of these reference in the context of the project.)
