36:013 Theory & Practice of Debate     3-4 s.h.

This course will focus on training in advocacy, with an emphasis on problem/solution situations. Students will learn to construct cases, organize speeches, and engage in refutation and summation. Students unfamiliar with argumentation should take 36:017 before this course; students interested in teaching debate skills in elementary or secondary schools should enroll in 36:014. Active participation in A. Craig Baird Debate Forum required to earn fourth credit.
