36:012 Interpersonal Communication

Description

This course falls in to the Practice category in the course lists in the Department and teaches students to improve their interpersonal communication skills so that they can interact appropriately and effectively with other people ion a variety of situations.

Course goals

This course will increase students; skills and knowledge in the following areas:

• Principles and processes of interpersonal communication
• The role of self in interpersonal interactions
• Processes and types of effective listening
• Structure and dynamics of interpersonal communication
• Personal empowerment and empowering of others through interpersonal communication

Assignments

• Exams to test for vocabulary, concepts, and practical methods
• Exercises to work through specific interpersonal communication dilemmas and other scenarios
• Analysis of specific problems in interpersonal communication and how to overcome them;
  Skills-based exercises as appropriate
• Group projects and presentations on interpersonal communication.
