Program: English Ph.D.
Began program in 2000
Area of Study: Early Modern Literature
Office: 70 EPB
E-Mail: stacy-erickson@uiowa.edu

Although I spent much of my first semester in the program introducing myself as " someone who likes everything," I became convinced early on that I wanted to study Early Modern English literature and culture. I am specifically interested in exploring the culture of Early Modern literary patronage and literary production, and my recent work has focused on the relationships between writers and the printers and publishers who presented their texts to the reading public. I have presented conference papers on Spenser and Jonson, and I recently contributed several captions to the Shakespeare Resource Center, a searchable online database of prompt books from the Folger collection. I taught for two years in the Rhetoric Department and currently teach in the General Education Literature program. During the Fall of 2003 I was a co-leader for Rhetoric's Professional Development Program (PDP), and this year I am helping plan picnics, forums, and booksales as one of the co-presidents of the Association of Graduate Students in English (AGSE).
