Born and raised in small-town Indiana, I completed my Master's degree at Kent State University, where I taught rhetoric and worked for the Wick Poetry Center. Now pursuing a Ph.D. at Iowa, I'm the managing editor of the Walt Whitman Quarterly Review and serve as editorial assistant for the Walt Whitman Archive. My scholarly interests include early American frontiers, ethnographies and constructions of the American West, American theology and religious history, Melville, and Whitman.
