Auditing University of Iowa Courses
All faculty and staff are eligible to audit (i.e., register for zero semester hours) one University of Iowa course per semester without being assessed tuition and mandatory fees for that course.
The application form is available at: http://www.registrar.uiowa.edu/forms/staffapp.pdf
The Mary Jo Small Staff Fellowship Award
The Mary Jo Small Staff Fellowship Award Program allows professional and scientific or merit staff members to attend international, national, or regional conferences and workshops that will aid them in their work. Application deadline is June 1 for each year for assistance needed the upcoming fiscal year. (E.g. Apply by June 1, 2005 for a conference occurring between July 1, 2005-June 30, 2006.) Applicants are notified in July of the same year.
Professional Development Awards
UI Learning & Development has identified funds for special professional development awards during the spring and fall semesters. All staff members are sent a notification twice a year. Those staff members who submit a completed award application form by the deadline are eligible for the lottery drawing. Award winners are selected through a lottery drawing. Winners can use the award to cover the fee for Learning & Development courses during the appropriate semester. Only one application per person will be accepted.
Internship Program for Staff
The University of Iowa's commitment to professional development and equal opportunity is exemplified by the Professional Development Internship Program for UI staff members. The program enables participants to gain insight and experience in areas that interest them, but differ from their current work responsibilities. This flexible program is free, and can be adapted to fit your career goals.
