Names: Mary Jo and Mark Abbott
Positions: Mary Jo is a pharmacist with Ambulatory Care Pharmacies, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics; Mark is assistant to the director of athletics.
Years at Iowa: 16 (1971-73, 1989 to present) and 14 (1989 to present), respectively
Beneficiaries of their gifts to the University: Intercollegiate Athletics, College of Pharmacy, UI Parents Association
Why they contribute: “We’re great believers in The University of Iowa. We were both lucky enough to go to school here, as did both of our children. We received a lot from the University and we want to do everything we can to help it stay at the top. In these tough financial times, it’s more important than ever to make an effort and give back. We love being a part of the University community, and we’d like to give others an opportunity to be part of it as well.”
