Francois Abboud, professor of internal medicine, recipient of the 2004 Distinguished Scientist Award from the American College of Cardiology.

Tom Brands, assistant wrestling coach, named to the 2004 men’s Olympic freestyle wrestling staff.

Phyllis Chang, associate professor of surgery, named acting chair for a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel on general and plastic surgery devices.

Richard Dehn, clinical professor and associate director of the Physician Assistant Program in the Carver College of Medicine, recipient of the Association of Physician Assistant Programs 2003 Research Achievement Award.

Rita Frantz, professor of nursing, served on an expert panel on prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers for the National Nursing Home Improvement Collaborative.

Michael Kolen, professor of educational measurement, selected to the Iowa Academy of Education.

Mike Lorenzen, head women’s gymnastics coach, named co-Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year.

Raghavan, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, recipients of the Basic Science Award in Neurovascular Disease and Endovascular Therapeutics from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Vilia Tarvydas, professor of rehabiliation counseling, recipient of the George N. Wright Varsity Award from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, named by Good Housekeeping magazine as one of the best hospitals in the nation in caring for women diagnosed with heart disease.

Anne Williamson, clinical instructor of endodontics, elected secretary of the Endodontic Section of the American Dental Education Association.
