Fred Antczak, professor of rhetoric and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, named a fellow of the Rhetoric Society of America.

Theresa Black, UI Foundation–graphics employee, and Thomas Langdon, adjunct instructor of art and art history, recipients of a Gold Circle of Excellence Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education for production of the College of Law annual report and honor roll.

Colleen Reardon Chapleau, associate director of the Iowa Marrow Donor Program and Adult Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, selected by cancer community leaders to join cancer survivor and five-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Tour of Hope in October.

Katherine Eberle, professor of music, recipient of the Van Lawrence Fellowship Award from the Voice Foundation.

Richard Hurtig, professor and chair of speech pathology and audiology, elected president-elect of the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Phillip E. Jones, vice president for student services, recipient of a 2004 Access Award from Introspect Youth Services in Chicago.

William A. Kirk, professor of mathematics, recipient of an honorary doctorate from Maria Curie–Sklodowska University in Lublin, Poland.

Alan MacVey, professor and chair of theatre arts, reelected secretary and member of the board of directors of the National Association of Schools of Theatre.

Maureen McCormick, director of UI Learning & Development, named Training Administrator of the Year by Skillsoft Corp.

Kwan Rim, professor emeritus of biomedical engineering, named an honorary commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

George Weiner, director of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, named chair of the Iowa Consortium for Comprehensive Cancer Control.
