The fifth annual Catalyst Award reception will be
from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Oct. 9, in the Richey Ballroom,
IMU. The Catalyst Award recognizes individuals and
departments that have demonstrated excellence in
campus diversity initiatives.
The reception will honor the following 2003 Catalyst
Award recipients:
• Diana K. Davies, director of International
Programs, selected for being an engaging, consistent,
and compassionate advocate for the value and importance
of international students on U.S. campuses;
• Adrienne Drapkin, director of the Medical
Museum, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics,
selected for her outstanding use of the medium of
visual museum exhibits to assist others to appreciate
diversity using compassion, education, and interaction;
and
• The Philip G. Hubbard Law School
Preparation Program, College of Law, selected for providing an
excellent overview of career opportunities to numerous
students from groups underrepresented in the legal
profession, and for enhancing Iowa’s national
recognition as a university with a deep and longstanding
commitment to diversity.
UI President David Skorton and Sheba Wheeler, Pulitzer
prize winner and 2002 Distinguished Alumna, will
offer remarks at the reception.
