Linda Abbott, chief nursing officer, UIHC, nominated in the patient advocacy category for NurseWeek's national Nursing Excellence Award.

Elizabeth Altmaier, professor of counseling psychology, recipient of the Dorothy Booz Black Award for outstanding achievement in counseling health psychology from the American Psychological Association's Division 17.

Kelley Donham, professor of occupational and environmental health, recipient of the 2003 Stange Award for the outstanding alumnus from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University.

Glen Epstein, adjunct professor of art and art history, recipient of jurors' awards for his piece Faire Sans Dire at the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts and for The Letter Killeth but the Spirit Giveth Life at Word for Word, an exhibition by the Association for the Calligraphic Arts.

Marty Jones, senior research assistant, occupational and environmental health, elected secretary of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Noise Committee and president-elect of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Iowa-Illinois Local Section.

Murray Madsen, program consultant, occupational and environmental health, elected to a two-year term as chair of the board of directors for the national Farm Safety 4 Just Kids organization.

Francoise Martinet, professor emeritus of dance, named the 2003 winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Corps de Ballet International.

Roberta M. Marvin, associate professor, International Programs, named editor of Verdi Forum.

Mark Miksch, staff nurse, UIHC, nominated in the teaching category for NurseWeek's national Nursing Excellence Award.

Sonia Mueller, administrative associate, Nursing Services, nominated in the mentoring category for NurseWeek's national Nursing Excellence Award.

Madeline Shea, professor of biochemistry, appointed to a three-year term on the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology Science Policy Committee.
