Is your spirit dancing?
Dance Marathon is seeking alumni, faculty, staff,
and friends of the University to participate in the
Spirit Dancer Program.
To become a spirit dancer, register as soon as possible
and raise a minimum of $200 by Dec. 1. Spirit dancers
will be invited to attend Dance Marathon. Funds support
special projects for families served by the Children's
Hospital of Iowa at the UI Hospitals and Clinics.

Child care for study time
Evening child care for student families will be
offered during the weeks of Dec. 8 and Dec. 15, before
and during final examination week. The Family Services
Office and UI Student Government are cosponsoring
the program, and UISG will pay the child care fees.
Children from infancy through 12 years old are eligible.
Care will be provided at Handicare, Inc., 2220 9th
St., Coralville. Children must be pre-enrolled. For

Nanoscience symposium
A symposium on nanoscience and nanotechnology, sponsored
by the Optical Science and Technology Center, will
be held 8:30am-4:30pm, Nov. 12, in the IMU and IATL.
The symposium will feature a presentation on the
current National Nanotechnology Initiative and its
funding opportunities as well as a poster session
and several talks by UI researchers.
Nanoscience is the study of the fundamental principles
of molecules and structures with at least one dimension
between 1 and 100 nanometers.

The Council on Teaching is accepting proposals from
faculty and staff directly involved with student
instruction for special funding to support instructional
projects that will make exceptional contributions
to learning.
