The Office of the Provost
is accepting applications for the following awards:
James Van Allen Natural Sciences Fellowship
The James Van Allen Natural Sciences Fellowship
is a competitive award designed to encourage and
support scholarly work in the physical, natural,
and mathematical sciences. The fellowship provides
the recipient a stipend of $15,000. Applications
for this award have been down in recent years; to
help ensure that the program is not discontinued
due to lack of interest, encourage eligible and worthy
faculty to apply.
Applications are due to the provost by Nov. 21 (the
deadline is past to submit applications to DEOs and
deans). For more information, see www.uiowa.edu/~provost/facdev/vainstr.pdf.
Old Gold Summer Fellowship The Old Gold Summer Fellowship is a developmental
program for faculty on nine-month appointments that
provides recipients funding for summer work on an
approved developmental project. Fellowships may be
awarded to support research and creative activities
and instructional development activities. Each fellowship
is expected to result in at least one project for
publication, exhibit, performance, or instructional
use. Awards are $6,000.
Applications are due to DEOs by Dec. 12, to deans
Jan. 9, 2004, and to the provost Jan. 30, 2004. For
