Names: Jay Cayner and Gayle Sand

Positions: Jay is an assistant director of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics; Gayle is the administrator in the Department of English, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Years at Iowa: 22 (1981 to present) and 7 (1996 to present), respectively

Beneficiaries of their gifts to the University: The Women’s Resource and Action Center, WSUI/KSUI, UIHC patient-support fund

Why they contribute: “It’s important for all of us as faculty and staff to participate in the campaign because the University is a remarkable place to work and because the University helps make this community a wonderful place to live. We all benefit from the University and we all benefit more from a strong University. Supporting the Good. Better. Best. campaign is a way to give back to the University to make it stronger. This campaign is unique because it lets us support aspects of the University that are important to each of us. And the convenient, user-friendly nature of payroll deduction makes it easy and simple.

“Giving to the University now is more important than ever with state budget uncertainties. If we each can do a small part, it will make a huge difference.”
