National Volunteer Blood Donor Month

Start the new year by giving the gift of life—donate blood at the DeGowin Blood Center at UI Hospitals and Clinics in January to celebrate National Volunteer Blood Donor Month.

According to Mitch Overton, donor recruitment coordinator, December and January are the two hardest months to find blood donors due to illness and bad weather.

To schedule a blood donation appointment or to learn more, contact the DeGowin Blood Center at (35)6-2058 or www.uihealthcare.com/depts/degowinbloodcenter.

Teaching Technology Workshops

The NExTT—short for New Experiences with Teaching Technology— series of workshops will be held Jan. 10-13 for instructors and instructional support staff.

Sessions cover many topics, including the use of WebCT and/or Blackboard; an introduction to the new course management system that will eventually replace WebCT and Blackboard; creating/maintaining Web sites with Dreamweaver; digital images with Fireworks; and item writing for tests and quizzes.

To register or learn more about the NExTT workshops, visit http://at.its.uiowa.edu/nextt/ or contact Ken Clinkenbeard at ken-clinkenbeard@uiowa.edu or (33)5-6043).
