University to celebrate legacy of MLK, Jr.


 

The University is coordinating a series of public events Jan. 12 to Feb. 10 in commemoration of Human Rights Week and Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. All events are free and open to the public. For a complete listing of events, visit www.uiowa.edu/~mlk/schedule3.html.

  • The events kickoff is Jan. 12 at 3:30 p.m. in the UI Museum of Art. Additional event highlights include:
  • Community Convocation, 7 p.m., Jan. 17, Second Floor Ballroom, IMU.
  • The Art of Human Rights: Creative Expression in the Fight for Freedom, readings and discussion on artists in human rights work, 7 p.m., Jan. 18, Iowa Room, IMU.
  • Fifth Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, 3:30 p.m., Jan. 21, R. Wayne Richey Ballroom, IMU.
