Connie Delaney, nursing, elected to the American Medical Informatics Board of Directors.

Joann Eland, nursing, recipient of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing’s Jeanne Guveyan Award for her educational efforts in pain management.

Murray D. Madsen, Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health, elected to the Executive Committee of the Continental Cooperative Services Board of Directors.

Christopher Merrill, International Writing Program, recipient of the 2005 Kostas Kyriazis Award, Greece’s most prestigious journalism award.

Patrick O’Shaughnessy, occupational and environmental health, appointed to the editorial review board of the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene.

Jane Pendergast, biostatistics, voted president elect of the International Biometric Society’s Eastern North American Region; she will serve as president and past present in subsequent years.

Tarrell Portman, counseling, rehabilitation, and student development, recipient of the American Counseling Association’s Counselors for Social Justice division’s first-ever Mary Smith Arnold Anti-Oppression Award.

Downing A. Thomas, French and Italian, elected to the executive committee of the Association of Departments of Foreign Language.

UI Alumni Association, recipient of a gold award for events and two bronze awards for feature writing from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District V “Pride of District V” competition.
