Name: Anne Tanner
Position: Retired from University Relations Publications; volunteer transcriber of oral history interviews for Iowa Women’s Archives in University Libraries.
Background at Iowa: Graduated in journalism, 1961; worked as an editor from late 1993 to July 2004.
Beneficiaries of gifts to Iowa: School of Journalism and Mass Communication; UI Foundation’s new fund for staff scholarships; Hancher Auditorium; WSUI-KSUI; and the ongoing capital campaign.
Why she contributes: “I have a deep respect for the University and these parts of its mission. I received an excellent education in journalism and worked for two decades as a journalist before going into public relations.
“As a member of Staff Council, I worked to get more opportunities for staff to continue their education. And as a loyal fan of Hancher and the University radio stations, I want to help to keep them healthy.
“I don’t give a great deal of money, but I do intend to continue to give what I can to help the University educate future generations.”
