UI Libraries to remember
9/11 tragedy
Share coffee, conversation, and a celebration of
freedom, 8:30-9:30am, Sept. 11, on the North Plaza
of the Main Library. Library staff will be distributing
copies of the Bill of Rights, remembering those who
died with a moment of silence at 8:46am and encouraging
participants to discuss what it means to be an American.
An electronic diary will be available for participants
to record their memories. Refreshments will be served.
The event is part of The September Project (www.theseptemberproject.org),
which coordinates remembrance events at libraries
across the nation. The electronic diary and photographic
images of the event will become part of The September
Project’s photographic collage.

administered through UI Wellness and UI Benefits
at a 75 percent reduced fee—all you need to
do is fulfill the program requirements.
The programming targets stress management, weight
management, smoking cessation, and health management.
Services are open to all faculty and P&S and
merit supervisory-exempt staff employed at 50 percent
or greater.

Seminars focus on historical research
UI Libraries will be offering free seminars this
semester on conducting historical research. Those
with an interest in primary historical sources may
be particularly interested.
The first one, “Tools for Accessing Primary
Historical Sources,” 2:30-4:30pm, Sept. 10,
in the Main Library’s Information Arcade, will
focus on tools for identifying and locating distant
or local primary sources of particular interest to
the researcher, mostly in paper or microformat.
While there is no charge, participants must register
in advance. Registration forms are available on the
