Offices and Awards

Paul Abramowitz, assistant dean and professor in the College of Pharmacy, will serve a three-year term as treasurer of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.

Leslie Baxter, professor of communication studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, received the Bernard J. Brommel Award for Outstanding Scholarship or Distinguished Service from the National Communication Association.

Barbara Biesecker, associate professor of communication studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has received the Douglas W. Ehninger Award, named in honor of the former University of Iowa professor, from the National Communication Association.

Hans Breder, professor emeritus of art and art history in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Dortmund, Germany.

David Grady, associate vice president and director of University Life Centers, has been elected president of the Order of Omega.

Barry Greenberg, Iowa Memorial Union food services manager, was the top honoree at the Culinary Challenge of the National Association of College and University Food Services.

Oscar Hahn, professor of Spanish and Portuguese in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, received the Premio del Consejo Nacional del Libro award in Chile.

John Peters, professor of communication studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, received the Franklyn S. Haiman Award from the National Communication Association.

David Redlawsk, associate professor of political science in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, received the Alexander George Book Award from the International Society for Political Psychology.

Arthur Spector, professor of biochemistry and internal medicine in the Carver College of Medicine, received the Alexander Leaf Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids.
