UI staff lend a helpful hand when candidates come campaigning
When presidential candidates come to campus, University employees have the opportunity to learn more about individual campaigns, perhaps even meeting the contenders face to face. But for some UI staff members, political visits also mean taking on additional duties, from preparing a fruit platter to assisting the Secret Service in security sweeps. While campaign stops must be sponsored by a recognized student organization, UI departments such as the Division of Student Services, the Department of Public Safety, and Iowa Memorial Union Event Services help coordinate the events.
UI staff, faculty honored for excellenceFourteen staff members and six faculty members at The University of Iowa received awards for excellence in 2007. The staff were recognized with one of three annual staff awards for excellence presented by the UI Staff Council, including the Board of Regents Staff Excellence Awards; the honored faculty also received Excellence Awards from the Regents.
