Speakers Bureau |
||
|
Speakers Bureau is a discussion program that the GLBTAU offers to the
University of Iowa and the Iowa City/Coralville area. By offering this
service, we hope to encourage understanding and awareness about LGBT issues.
Any class or group that would like to hear the "GLBT perspective" may host
this program. Speakers Bureaus are often hosted by various University
classes, particularly in the departments of education, psychology, and
health, but we would like to encourage a wider variety of groups to host
Speakers Bureaus, particularly in Residence Halls, community schools, and
local religous organizations.
The program itself typically consists of a panel of five GLBT community members, from as diverse of background as possible, who answer questions given by the class or group hosting the discussion, though this can be modified to suit the needs of the class/group. A panel is almost always available, however if you would like to request a Speakers Bureau, please contact us as soon as possible. Normally it takes a few days to organize a panel, so the sooner we know the more time we will have to prepare one. And, of course, there is no charge to host this panel. Never done a bureau before? Don't know what a Speakers' Bureau is? Interested in finding out more? For more information and/or scheduling, e-mail us at: glbtau@uiowa.edu.
