Civic Engagement Program Theme Focusing on the Environment

The Go Green website is a feature of The University of Iowa Civic Engagement Program's "Environmental Impact...Go Green Iowa!" theme.  The purpose of this site is to provide environmental information and resources to University of Iowa students, faculty and staff, and the larger community.

In April of 2007, the Civic Engagement Program (CEP) Advisory Board approved a proposal to advance to the University community over the course of three years, a theme focused on the environment.  The proposal was based on the considerable concern that has been voiced about environmental issues at our University, in our community and, more broadly, in the State of Iowa, the U.S.A. and globally. The Civic Engagement Program's environmental theme is supplemental to current programming of the Civic Engagement Program

It is the hope of the Civic Engagement Program Advisory Board (PDF) that by advancing this theme we can encourage concerned students, organizations, faculty and staff to get involved with the Civic Engagement Program to confront environmental issues through education and service.  Through collaboration with community members and organizations outside the university, UI students, faculty and staff can help address environmental concerns, challenges and needs that are identified by our community.

The CEP Advisory Board approved the proposal for the environmental theme based on:
