Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, National Public Lands Day: The Herbert Hoover National Historic Site needs volunteers and volunteer organizations to help restore the 81-acre native tall grass prairie. In the past, volunteers have cut woody shrubs and pick prairie seeds from the tall grass prairie. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable work clothes. Water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are recommended! If you would like to help, contact Adam Prato at (319) 643-7855 by Friday, Sept. 26.
