The Iowa Award Iowa Writes

Writer? Iowan? Then we want you!

In 2004, the University of Iowa launched The Daily Palette, a web site featuring a different Iowa-identified artist every day. Two years later, The Iowa Review began collaborating with the site to showcase the work of Iowa writers as well. Originally slated to last until this February, the project has been renewed and will now continue through 2008 and beyond. The scope will expand to include not just Iowa writers but also work published by Iowa magazines, journals, and small presses.

Submissions continue to be welcomed from writers who consider themselves Iowans, whether they have Iowa roots or live here now. Nonfiction, fiction, or poetry of 700 words or fewer may be submitted in the body of an e-mail to iowa-writes@uiowa.edu. Writers should include an author bio of no more than 50 words. Those whose work is selected receive a complimentary copy of The Iowa Review.
