Admission Information

Prospective Freshman: All students seeking to register for the first time at The University of Iowa must be formally admitted to The Univeristy of Iowa. Applicants may obtain the proper forms from:

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) students are admitted to the Athletic Training major and begin clinical experience as sophomores. During the freshman year, prospective applicants are required to complete the following to be considered for admission.

(1) Submit an Athletic Training Program Application by December 1. These forms are available from the Program Director. E-mail address below* or by linking here.

(2) Successfully complete the Exploring Athletic Training course (027:096, Fall only) or the equivalent within the past year. E-mail the Program Director for details* or by linking here.

(3) Maintain at least a 2.50 gradepoint average or higher on all undergraduate course work. A grade of C or higher is required for pre-requisite courses. 

Preference is given to applicants with high scholastic standing, strong writing skills and varied athletic training/health care exposure. Volunteer experiences include relevant work in hospitals, clinics or camps related to athletic training, sports medicine, or health care.  A personal interview may be required.
