UI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Orchestra Department at the University of Iowa has four orchestras: the Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia and the All-University String Orchestra. Dr. William LaRue Jones is the Music Director.

UI Symphony Band UI SYMPHONY BAND
The first band at The University of Iowa was a 13-piece cornet band organized in 1880. Now, more than 500 students participate in one of the eight university bands.
The Symphony Band is the foremost wind and percussion ensemble. Others include the Concert Band, University Band and Chamber Wind Ensemble. Additional bands are the nationally famous 240-member Hawkeye Marching Band, the Iowa Pep Band, and several jazz ensembles, including the award-winning
Johnson County Landmark.
