- Dive into Accessibility: 30 days to a more accessible web site
"This book answers two questions. The first question is 'Why should I make my web site more accessible?' If you do not have a web site, this book is not for you. The second question is 'How can I make my web site more accessible?' If you are not convinced by the first answer, you will not be interested in the second."
— from the author's introduction.
- Building Accessible Websites
This is an excellent book by Joe Clark and it is available free online. Of course, the author would love it if you bought the book, also.
- Web design assets: images, buttons, etc.
- iStockPhoto.com

- A List Apart Magazine

Software referenced at nTITLE
- How much and where can I get it? (PDF)
Most, if not all, of the software that was introduced to you during nTITLE is available at academic pricing through
the Campus Software Program. If you have questions,
the person to contact is Tracey Schmidt (335-6069).
- WebCT and Blackboard are hosted applications available for free to all instructors at the University of Iowa.
- Free software from the Campus Software Program (anti-virus software and more)
This site requires your Hawk ID and password.
- Xythos is another hosted application that will, in the near future, be available to everyone at the University of Iowa. We are using it for nTITLE prior to its enterprise-wide implementation. It is cool, no?
- Respondus (Windows only) is a tool for creating and maintaining tests and quizzes in WebCT or Blackboard. The university does not have a site license for this software, but a 30-day trial of Respondus can be downloaded. Academic Technologies has a copy that you can use in our facilities, also.
- Freeware and Shareware recommendations
- WinZip (shareware, Windows)
Winzip allows one to create and expand compressed .zip files.
- StuffIt Standard (shareware, MacOS/Win/Linux)
Like Winzip, Stuffit allows one to create and expand compressed .zip files and .sit files.
- JAlbum (freeware, Win/MacOS/Linux)
If Dreamweaver's tool for creating image galleries is not extensive enough for you, this freeware app is much more configurable and works on a variety of operating systems.
