What Do Students Say aboutSupport Service Programs?
I had a hard time adjusting my Freshman year. Being away from home, not knowing anyone, and having a rough time in my major was really taking its toll. I received a letter from the S.S.S. office a couple of weeks into the semester that told me I should make an appointment. I didn't, but a few days later I received a phone call from my assigned advisor, and made the appointment. She and I sat down and discussed the problems I was having. She made me feel a lot better and helped me get a tutor in a class I was struggling in. My peer assistant was also often in touch with me. She gave me a lot of advice about my major and let me know that she had been there too. Whenever I see her on campus we still stop and chat about out lives. Even during my Sophomore year, I kept in contact with the office for advice about my major, my progress in certain classes, and other personal issues. There are so many resources available through the office. You just have to utilize them. Vanessa Parks, Psychology and Pre-Med The office takes the burden off the impact of a large campus. Kelly Clay, Burlington, Exercise Science and Psychology My counselor seems interested in me and what I want to do with my future. She really does care! Erika Subieta, open major The tutors provided for the students are great. They are very helpful and want to see the students do well in school. Gregoria Aguilar, prebusiness The Academic Planning counselors are the best! They really go out of their way and are very supportive. Nikki Hill, Psychology |
