University Relations Administration
The director of University Relations works closely with central administration in establishing public relations priorities and plans and advises the president and vice presidents, and serves as University spokesperson. The office provides planning, coordination, and budgeting oversight for all units in University Relations. Freedom of Information requests are handled through this office.

Arts Center Relations
Arts Center Relations staff create and maintain ArtsIowa, the University’s calendar of arts events on campus, report on and coordinate publicity regarding arts news and events through news releases and radio broadcasts, and assist departments in the arts in preparing material for playbills and other printed and web communications.

The staff of University News Services report on news for University of Iowa colleges, departments, programs, and special events, generating news releases that are distributed to local, state, and national media outlets. The unit also maintains the UI News web site and prepares a daily digest of news releases issued that day, as well as news about the UI gathered from national and international media.

University Relations Publications
The editors, photographers, and designers of University Relations Publications develop and support communication and marketing activities for many collegiate and administrative units on campus. The staff produces materials, both print and electronic, for recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students, college periodicals for alumni, and specialized publications distributed to key University constituencies and published online.

The University Relations Web Unit works with key University administrative units in developing user-friendly web sites that are both visually compelling and easy to navigate. The team maintains web standards for official University sites, and offers assistance to campus units in meeting those standards.
The team also plans, creates, publishes, and maintains the University of Iowa homepage site.
