Financial Times ranks UI MBA program among top in the world
The Financial Times of London has ranked the Tippie
School of Management at the University of Iowa 52nd among the top full-time
MBA programs in the world.
Published Jan. 20, the rankings highlight the top schools among the 1,500
MBA programs in the world. The Tippie School's rank placed it 36th among
U.S. programs and 15th among programs at public U.S. universities.
The rankings of each school were determined by its performance in three
broad areas: the career progression accrued from the MBA and its purchasing
power in the marketplace; the diversity of its students and faculty; and
its research productivity.
The Tippie School ranked 19th in increased earning power of its alumni,
a major factor in the program's high placement in the rankings. On average,
graduates of the program earn an 185 percent increase from the start of an
MBA to three years after graduation, according to Gary Gaeth, associate dean
of MBA programs in the Tippie School of Management.
"The Financial Times is influential in many areas of the world, including
Europe, Asia and Latin America," Gaeth added. "We have a good representation
of international students in our program, and this ranking helps us attract
high-quality students from around the world."
Gaeth said the ranking also reflects well on the talented, research-oriented
faculty at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business. "We've created an
environment where students can capitalize on the synergy between quality
MBA teaching and exceptionally productive faculty," he said.
The rankings are available on the Financial Times website at http://ftcareerpoint.ft.com/BusinessEducation.
The Tippie School of Management offers three MBA programs designed to enhance
professional education: a full-time MBA; the evening MBA for part-time students
in Des Moines, Newton, Cedar Rapids and the Quad Cities; and the executive
MBA, with programs in Iowa City and Des Moines. The Tippie School offers
a Dual Master's Degree Program for engineers, in conjunction with Iowa State
University and an International Executive MBA program in Hong Kong. The Tippie
College of Business, accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business (AACSB), is consistently ranked among the top business
schools in the world. It provides instruction in a personalized setting with
easy access to qualified faculty and staff, and its programs utilize the
latest technology to ensure that students receive a comprehensive management
education that will help them succeed in today's competitive world.
