PROJECT ID

WHAT IS PROJECT ID?
Project ID is a campus program designed to discourage theft of valuables from your residence hall. It also provides a record of your valuable property at the Department of Public Safety so in case of theft the serial numbers are on record and can be entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). The NCIC is a national computer tracing system used for a stolen article entry so that the article can possibly be returned to the owner if sold or found, which also increases the chances that the perpetrator will be brought to justice. Because it reduces the profit in crime, this program has dramatically reduced burglary in communities where the majority of citizens have joined. Most thieves steal valuables for resale, but if they know that your valuables in your room are recorded, the criminal will look for easier and more profitable targets.
