Reward and Recognition Program
October-December 2006

In the Reward and Recognition Program we honor individuals and groups in Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Travel. These categories are: Working Together-"Co-worker Excellence", Customer Satisfaction-"Beyond Expectations", Innovation-"Doing it Better", and Supportive-"Promoting our OE Mission" awards.

A special thanks go to Committee Members: Mary Jane Stumpf (chairman), Karen LeVelle (co-chair), Valerie Blanchard, Roland Zschiegner and Brenda Bang.

Vicki Stein - Working Together "Co-worker Excellence Award"    I am nominating Vicki for this because of the customer service she provides. Vicki has gone above and beyond expectations in many areas. In our upgrade to PS 8.8 we have had some changes, specifically with MFK validation. This has had a big impact especially on grant accounting invoices. Vicki has worked closely with grant accounting to ensure that the invoices are still being paid in a timely fashion.

Sue Hershberger - Working Together "Co-worker Excellence Award" AND Customer Satisfaction "Beyond Expectations Award"
I'm nominating Sue, as little did she know, that when she accepted the mail clerk position on the Support Staff Team that not only would she be learning these job duties and responsibilities, but with-in a very short time period (2-3 months) her learning experience and training would include two additional positions!!! She did this with minimal training and at a time when internal staff needs depended on her greatly during a staff move and while other teams were also short staffed. Through it all, she remained very professional, greeted customers with respect and individual attention.

ProTrav Team: Jennie Portwood, Dawn Jarrard, Gina Pottorff, Sherry Reynolds, Becky Schaffner, Sherri Dusenbery - Customer Satisfaction "Beyond Expectations Award"   How do you spell excellence: ProTrav Team!!! This team managed the conversion of our procurement cards to a new bank platform the fall of 2006. The team accomplished this by making the conversion as campus friendly as possible with little impact to the cardholder. The migration was flawless from my perspective. Even when faced with problems caused by the bank's error, the project manager was responsive and made decisions in a timely manner. Kudos to the entire team for the management of all the details and implementing the project on time.!!

Jennifer Wilkins - Working Together "Co-worker Excellence Award" AND Innovation: " Doing it Better " Customer Satisfaction: "Beyond Expectations"   I would like to nominate Jennifer for all her efforts working on the UIHC Inventory project to help them enter an enormous amount of item data much more efficiently in a Microsoft Access database. She also deserves credit for helping buyers, campus and vendors with reverse auctions which can only help the U of I save money on specific purchases.
