Latino Pre-Conference Institute Conference participants include Latino/as and non-Latino/as living and working in Iowa in the following areas: business, education, law, health, industry, human and social services, policymaking and policy advising, law enforcement, human rights, community-based organizing, faith-based services, and more. This is a great opportunity for Latino/as in Iowa to develop skills, broaden networks, organize, and celebrate Latino/a heritage. It is also a wonderful event for non-Latino/as to recognize the great economic, cultural, and societal contributions of Latino/as in Iowa, and develop skills to work more effectively in and with the Latino/a population. The Latino Pre-Conference was added to the Conference agenda to supplement the Saturday event and the Youth Leadership Summit. The workshops are 3 hours in length and allow presenters and participants to go into more depth on each topic. Where: The John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center, 1200 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa When: Friday, October 27. The Agenda includes: 7:30-9:00 Check In (Pre-registration is recommended) Certificates of Continuteing Education will be available. Workshops will cover a variety of topics including: Immigration Law, Immigration Policy and Family Based Immigration Detailed workshop and presenter descriptions are forthcoming. |
