Dear Applicant: 

I am pleased to learn of your interest in the MSW program at Iowa.  This admission packet has been prepared to answer many of your questions about the School.  This packet contains:

Please examine all of this material carefully.   You are invited to attend informational meetings for prospective students at the following locations.  Individual appointments are also possible for those who cannot attend:

Meetings in Ottumwa for the one-time 4-year modified cohort will be held Nov. 29th and  Jan. 5th , noon-1:30, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center, meeting room D.  You may contact  the Distance Education Secretary: madelyn-bowersox@uiowa.edu , 515-235-4660 for details.

If you have questions after attending a meeting, the Distance Education Secretary will answer your general questions or help direct you for more specific answers: madelyn-bowersox@uiowa.edu, 515-235-4660.  If you are unable to attend a meeting, or have additional questions, you may request a meeting in Des Moines with the distance education coordinator, Bob Jackson robert-jackson@uiowa.edu, 515-235-4665, 319-335-1331 or in Iowa City with the admissions coordinator, Kate Kemp, kate-kemp@uiowa.edu ,319-335-1255.

We urge you to send in your application materials promptly.  Applications will be reviewed as soon as applications are completed.  The final application deadline is February 1, 2007 for admission beginning the following summer.  Applicants will be informed of their admission status by March 1, 2007.  See Admission Policy for details.

Admission criteria and the application process are outlined in the School’s MSW Admission Policy and in the Graduate College reprint.  Eight items are required by the School and the University before an application is considered to be complete. 

Where to send your application materials:

It is important for you to realize that your admission file is not complete until we have all of the items listed above.  It is your responsibility to ensure that persons you ask for references respond in a timely manner and that all materials including reference letters reach the School before the deadline of February 1, 2006.  You may email or call to check the status of your file: madelyn-bowersox@uiowa.edu, or you may call our direct line: 1-515-235-4660. 

If your situation changes in any way that might affect your intention or desire to become a student or if you change your address, phone number or email address, please notify the School immediately.  It is also important that you send a registration report for classes in which you will be currently enrolled on Feb 1st , and transcripts with grades for course work that is completed after the initiation of your application.
