October 10 Persistence of Sexual Side Effects After Discontinuation of SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors)

  Participants will learn about limits to knowledge with regard to SSRI sexual side effects.

December 12 College Student Suicide: Precedent-Setting Legal Cases, Pros and Cons of No-Suicide Contracts

  Attendees will learn about recent/current relevant cases and legal issues that impact laws and actions concerning college students who may be at risk for suicide on the college campus.
 
2.
  Attendees will learn about the pros and cons of no-harm contracts, as well as the different ways in which they are configured.
 
3.
  Participants will learn about the treatment protocol at the partial hospital eating disorder treatment program at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The University Counseling Service at The University of Iowa is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The University Counseling Service at The University of Iowa maintains responsibility for the program and its content.

Cost: $10. Please provide payment by cash or check upon entry. Walk-ins are welcome.
CE Certificates for 1.5 hours will be distributed to attendees.

Who Should Attend: Psychologists and psychologists-in-training who provide counseling for adults. Licensed Independent Social Workers. Licensed Mental Health Counselors.

Location: University Counseling Service, 3223 Westlawn South.

Directions:  
  • From the corner of Newton Road and Riverside Drive, proceed west up the hill and north around the curve, past two buildings on the right side of the road. The first is the Nursing Building; the second is our U-shaped Westlawn Building.
  • The Newton Road Parking Ramp, with metered parking, is the next structure on the right.
  • In Westlawn, use the entrance just south of the Student Health Service entrance.
