Local and National Candidates

The Green Party had a large number of candidates in the election. Information about those running in Iowa is below.

  • Kevin Owens
    Kevin is a sophomore at the University of Iowa. He ran for the Johnson County Board of Supervisors against three incumbent Democrats. The major issues of his campaign include creating more affordable housing, maintaining a balance between development and the environment, investing in renewable energy, investing in public transportation, creating a living wage ordinance, and creating a local currency. His website can be found at his page on the Johnson County Green Party Candidates web page. In the election, Kevin received over 8,000 votes for approximately 14% of the total vote.

    Kevin also ran in the UISG Senate At-Large Election at the university. He received more than 400 votes, which was the most of any candidate running.

  • Daryl Northrop: Daryl received over 15,000 votes in the Iowa Senate race. He was endorsed by the Iowa City Press Citizen.


  • David Cobb: the Green Party candidate for president received over a thousand votes in Iowa.
