Upcoming Events Investing in Human Rights: The case for investment reform at the University of Iowa The Campus Greens (Coalition for Investment Reform) will lead a presentation and discussion about the possibility of investment reform of the University of Iowa's funds. Frank Schmidt, a professor in the College of Business, will present findings supporting the feasibility of profitable mutual funds that screen for social and environmental responsibility among their holdings. The presentation will be followed by discussion about what the university should do with their funds. Date: Wednesday February 2, 2005 Past Events Amnesty International Candle Light Vigil Thursday, December 9, 9-11 PM UIEC Meeting Thursday, December 9 Progressive Bar Crawl Friday, December 3, 2004: 5 PM - ? What: A bar crawl around downtown Iowa City that will include 50-75 people (maybe more--that depends on you!) from University Democrats, Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, Campus Greens, Students for a Sensible Drug Policy, Students Against Sweatshops, Progressive Hip-Hop/A Scene Evolving, Students for Nader, and more. Theme: Graffiti Party, wear white long-sleeve or short-sleeve t-shirts. Permanent markers as well as huge-ass cups will be provided to you. All you have to do is use your pen to make friends and your cup to get drunk. Where: "light up and be somebody" preparty-- 5-6pm at 830 East Jefferson Street Apt 2. I will provide the party favors as long as supplies last. Donations welcome. Following the pre-party, bars include Diamond Dave's, Bo James, The Que, 808, Studio 13, Fieldhouse, and Brothers.
Benefit Concert for the Iowa City Crisis Center and the Iowa City Anti-Violence Project Iowa City Yacht Club Presents: Spooky Sprint 5K Charity Fun Run The UI Student Chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers will host the 1st annual Spooky Sprint 5K Charity Fun Run on Halloween Day. Proceeds will be donated to EHP of Iowa City. The race will commence at 10:00 AM on October 31 at the Seaman Center on the University of Iowa Campus. Participants are encouraged to dress in costume. Prizes will be given away for the winners of the race as well as for the best costume. Costumes will be judged by UI President David Skorton and the Dean of the Engineering School P. Barry Butler. A free breakfast will also be provided to participants beforehand. |
