January 29, 2005 Read the press release about the February 2 event to learn about the latest effort for investment reform! January 28, 2005 On February 2, the Campus Greens (Coalition for Investment Reform) are sponsoring an event to bring attention to the issue of university investments. You can download the fliers in PDF format to promote the event. We plan to invite the Board of Regents, which will meet in the IMU on February 2 and 3. The event will feature Frank Schmidt (from the College of Business) who will present conclusions regarding the profitability of socially responsible investments. Background information and a discussion will be included on the subject. January 25, 2005 Members of the Campus Greens have decided to create a new student organization dedicated to investment reform. The group is titled Coalition for Investment Reform and a listserv has been started. To be added to the listserv, contact Doug or Mike. December 16, 2004 Check out the letter to the editor in today's Press Citizen! December 15, 2004 The divestment campaign was in The Gazette on Monday: Ethan and Chad wrote a letter to the editor about the newspaper's editorial on November 24. No meeting will be held tonight unless an email to the contrary is sent on the listserv. If there is interest in attending a meeting for the Midwest Campus Greens on January 22-23, please send an email. December 9, 2004 A candle light vigil sponsored by Amnesty International will be held this friday. See the orangeiowacity.net calendar or the events page for more information. December 8, 2004 The Daily Iowan has another article about socially responsible investing. Check it out, then come to the meeting tonight at 6:30, IMU River Room! The coalition of environmental groups (that created uiec.org) is meeting Thursday at 6:30 in the South Commons of BHC. Come by for the meeting or read the minutes posted on uiec.org afterwards! December 7, 2004 Come to the meeting at 6:30 PM tomorrow! (note the time change from last week and what was posted on the website earlier.) In the mean time, check out the article about Campus Greens in the Press Citizen! December 3, 2004 The Vice President for Finance and Operations and University Treasurer, Douglas True, has responded (by email) to the request to divest university resources. See the divestment page for the update. December 2, 2004 According to President Skorton at the P&D session, the UI administration is investigating the possibility of divestment; a response to our letter campaign should be sent within the next few days. In addition, President Skorton noted that there is a faculty investment group that may be open to the campaign. New meeting minutes have been posted. Don't forget about the P&D session tonight at 7! November 22, 2004 You can now send the divestment letter through the Website! See the Divestment page for more information on the campaign. The Cedar Rapids Gazette has written about the Divestment campaign and the story was picked up by the AP -- the Des Moines Register and Sioux City Journal also picked up the story.
