Meeting Notes for 2004-10-24: Hey Everyone, Divestment Planning Meeting Sunday, Oct. 24th at 7:30 PM (don't worry, we can watch the sox destroy the birds in game 2 of the world series while we work) Ethan and Chad's place (400 N Clinton St APT 5, on the corner of clinton and davenport right across from the main entrance to Currier) This will be a strategizing session to determine how to proceed with our divestment campaign. We will also be discussing what to include on our website with our future webmaster Mike Schmidt. In the mean time, if you have an extra 30 minutes it would be great if people could write letters to the editor along the lines of "the university administration needs to act in order to resolve the discrepancy between its stated commitment to human rights and its investment policy which funds corporations that use discriminatory hiring and promotion practices, exploit sweatshop and child labor, devastate the environment, etc etc etc..." If you decide to send a letter, you can simply e-mail it to daily-iowan@uiowa.edu (approximately 300 words in length, be sure to include your name, student status, phone number and address). Also, don't forget about that planning meeting for the student run cooperative organic garden Sunday at 2 PM in the River Room. Hope to see at least a few of you tomorrow night, Ethan |
