IHUC went 7-1 in the first tournament of the "spring." A close loss to Ole' Miss in pool play forced Iowa back into the B bracket for the second year in a row. Our 30 man team allowed us to keep fresh legs all through sunday and end up retaining our title as B Bracket champions.
As a whole, the team showed glimpses of being at the national level, but still lacks experience. It will be another month until Frostbite so we have some tough work ahead.

Second semester is upon us. Practices, Workouts, and Tournament Schedules have all been updated for the spring.
First practice will be Tuesday, January 22 at 7:45. Meet in the rec center. It is very important that anyone who plans to play for IHUC this spring attends this practice.
Brian Gleason, IHUC captain and 2007 Callahan nominee, was involved in a car accident on january 10. He was taken to UI hospitals where he passed away early the next morning. He was an inspiration to the team and will be missed greatly. Des Moines Register Article
Our last tournament of the fall was Missouri Loves Company. We went is seeded 25th and finished in 14th place. We had some of the best games i've ever seen IHUC play, but we were exhausted by the end of sunday. We need to get in better shape.
Weekly workouts will be posted until the end of the semester in the Schedule -> Workouts section of the site. Follow these if you can, but if not, you should, at the very least, be running 3 days a week. Times when people usually go are posted as well, but be sure to check your emails.
The first official practice will be Tuesday, January 22. We will start it off with a mile time trail. Be ready. Once official practices start we can't have anyone missing a practice. Mardi Gras is just around the corner. Get to it.
IHUC finished 11th and 4th the past two weekends at Glory Days and Fallout. Rookies are starting to become a key part of our team. The experience gained at each tournament by our new players can easily be seen on the field. Don't get left behind, go to missouri loves company. This will be by far the hardest tournament of the fall. Many top ranked teams, including last years national champions, will be attending. This will be our first real chance to see how we can play at the highest level. Don't miss it.
Also, if you haven't noticed, it's cold. Get some underarmor, long sleeve shirts, running tights, old crotty clothes, ect. We will keep practicing up to MSL regardless of the temperture.
Great showing at Sectionals last weekend. IHUC took 6th (aka 5th) overall. We had tons of games and each one was a completely different experience. We don't have another tournament for a few weeks so this is a key time for us to improve. We're at the point in the season where you should be commited to IHUC and if you are going to miss a practice you should let someone know. Keep up the hard work.
Lots of guys came out to Grinnell this past weekend to help us to another 6-1 tournament. Sidelines were loud and rookies stepped up. If you weren't able to come, you really missed out, but there still 3 tournaments left this fall, so keep those dates cleared. Check the Schedules page for a finalized tournament listing. (*Sectionals and regionals require UPA membership so only returning players, with a few exceptions, are allowed to play)
Practice changes locations this week. We're out at the rec fields at a new time so find a bus, ride, or bike - the walk is pretty far.

This past weekend we won the bronze (3rd place?!?) at the Cooler Classic. Nice job and thanks to everyone who came out, espcially our new rookies. See the results page for details.

Looks like we'll be sending 12 guys to play in the Cooler Classic this weekend. We have an incoming freshman coming to the tournament which means 5 of our returning players won't be there. Make the extra effort to come out. Get some extra throwing in this week and keep up the workouts.
The tournament schedule has been updated with some tournaments we will most likely be attending this fall. Look for updates when they are confirmed.
The new ihuc website is up and running. Most likely there won't be any updates until school starts up again. Until then, good luck in summer leagues and stay in shape.
