Stepping Up Project
The Stepping Up Project is a community and campus coalition to reduce binge
drinking and its harmful effects. The project has been given a 6-year, $830,000
grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's leading health philanthropy,
to try a new approach to solving the problem of binge drinking among college
students - something called the "environmental approach". The University
of Iowa is one of 10 universities across the nation who are receiving funds
from the Robert Wood Johnson for this effort. Those efforts are being aided
by the American Medical Association, which is administering the program, and
the Harvard School of Public Health, which is serving as the program's evaluator.
