Leslie Leathers

Leslie Leathers is currently a 4th year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Iowa. She received her B.S. in Psychology from Xavier University in Louisiana.  Her previous clinical experience includes: providing individual counseling at University Counseling Service on the UI campus; providing individual therapy to adolescents in the Mount Pleasant (Iowa) school system; and conducting neuropsychological assessments at UIHC.

Leslie's research and therapy interests include multiculturalism and women's issues. She has primarily worked with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, grief and loss issues, and life transitions. She approches therapy with the understanding that individuals' worldviews are significantly impacted by their biological, environmental and psychosocial contexts. She works collaboratively with clients to help them enact positive changes in their lives.
