| The University has an active American Indian Student Association, which hosts regular potluck dinners at the Latino/Native American Cultural Center. Our enrollment includes students from more than 30 tribes.

programs offer courses that may be of particular interest to Native

- American
Indian & Native Studies Certificate Program—Course work for
this program is drawn from anthropology, history, law, literature,
and other disciplines.
- International
Studies Program—This program is for students who want
to study the intersections of culture, politics, economics, and
language in the world.
- Women's
Studies Department—This interdisciplinary program
brings the perspective of gender, along with a consideration
of class,
race, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, and physical ability
to bear on a host of problems and issues of current concern.

office in the UI Graduate College aims to build

- Alliance for Graduate Education & the Professoriate—This
organization's goal is to significantly increase the
number of PhDs awarded to underrepresented U.S. minority
students in engineering and the mathematical, physical,
and life sciences.
- Ethnic
Inclusion Effort for Iowa Engineering—The
goal of this UI College of Engineering program is
to increase underrepresented minorities in engineering
and to promote a welcoming and inclusive environment
for minorities at Iowa.
