Rental options in the Iowa City/Coralville area include apartments, houses, rooms, and efficiencies. Some are close to campus; some are farther out in more traditional neighborhoods or rural settings.

Typically, area landlords will require a one-year lease beginning on July 1 or August 1, so advertising may begin as early as March or April. Rents range from $400-$1,000 a month, depending on the unit's size, location, and amenities.

Where to find rental listings
You won't have to go far off campus to find a place, since hundreds of apartments are located within a few blocks of the main downtown campus. However, if you're looking for something quiet or more family-oriented, there's no shortage of neighborhood rentals available in Iowa City, Coralville, and nearby North Liberty.

Parking and transportation issues
Parking is available throughout campus, although the University's free bus system (Cambus) has several stops that allow patrons to connect with local transit buses, and most of Johnson County is bicycle and pedestrian friendly. Many transit buses are equipped with bike racks.
