Temporary Housing Options Upon Arrival in Iowa City

Hotel accommodations
If you have not arranged for housing during your first few days in Iowa City and you arrive after 5 p.m., you may (providing rooms are available) stay temporarily at the Iowa House, an on-campus hotel in the Iowa Memorial Union. The international student discounted rate is $30 (U.S. dollars) per person, per night, for a shared room.

To receive the discount, show the Iowa House desk clerk your passport or your copy of the Iowa brochure called Important Information for New International Students (which you should have received after applying). The Iowa House phone number is 319-335-3513.

Residence hall temporary housing
Students coming for fall 2007 may stay in temporary housing in Burge Hall between August 8 and 22. This is shared housing with other new students in large, open, dormitory-style rooms. For more information on this option, send an e-mail to Residence Services.
